A Foundation Built Upon Charisma & Music

The Founding of Foxy’s Tamarind Bar was in 1968 by Philicianno “Foxy” Callwood— a charismatic local musician and entrepreneur.  In the shade of a Tamarind Tree, Foxy set up a bar for welcoming sailors to his island home.  Quick with a song, joke, or story, Foxy’s charming personality helped make it a beloved gathering place for visitors and island residents alike.  For over five decades, Foxy’s Tamarind Bar has been known for live music, and Foxy often performs at the bar.

Visitors can enjoy a mix of reggae, calypso, and other Caribbean tunes.  The lively atmosphere and impromptu performances are part of what makes the bar so unique.  Foxy has received numerous awards for his contributions to heritage and tourism in the British Virgin Islands.  Most notably, an MBE (Member of the British Empire) from Her Majesty The Queen of England, Elizabeth II.

Famous Drinks & Beach BBQ

The bar serves a variety of tropical cocktails and specialty drinks, including the British Virgin Islands classic, the famous “Painkiller.” A delicious rum-based concoction of Pineapple and Coconut.  They have local cuisine classics on the lunch menu like Conch Fritters made with locally caught Anegada conch.

As well as Chicken Roti, which is a Caribbean specialty!  It is savory curried chicken, potatoes, and chickpeas wrapped in a chickpea flour wrap or served over rice. They celebrate community with a large party-style Beach BBQ Buffett Dinner served every Friday & Saturday night.  Check out the full menu here.

Events & The Biggest Night of The Year

Every day is a party at Foxy’s Tamarind Bar.  They host several events throughout the year.  The Wooden Boat Regatta, the Jost Van Dyke Music Festival, and of course, the biggest event of the year, Foxy’s New Year’s Eve.  These gatherings draw people worldwide and add to the island’s festive spirit.  Foxy’s New Year’s Eve party is renowned as one of the most celebrated and iconic events in the British Virgin Islands.  It has become a legendary way to ring in the New Year in the Caribbean.

Known for its vibrant musical scene, the bar hosts live performances that keep the partygoers dancing into the early morning hours.  The entire island of Jost Van Dyke comes alive during the New Year’s Eve celebration.  The beach and bar are adorned with colorful decorations. As the clock strikes midnight, a spectacular fireworks display lights up the night sky over Jost Van Dyke.

The fireworks, music, and warm Caribbean breeze create a magical ambiance for welcoming the New Year.  The world-renowned party attracts a diverse and international crowd.  People from all over the globe come to Jost Van Dyke to join in the festivities, creating a unique and multicultural celebration.

Despite being a world-famous event, Foxy’s New Year’s Eve Party maintains a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere.  It’s a place where people can enjoy the festivities in a casual beachfront setting. If you are considering a private luxury charter to ring in the New Year, this is the party you don’t want to miss.
